My little pony took the toy market by storm in the 80's. The creation of a cartoon to advertise a toy line was new with ponies and transformers, respectively. My little pony was one of the first television cartoons marketed specifically to little girls, this during a time where girls were mainly relegated to side characters this was actually a big deal. I was a late 80's baby and received my first pony at the tender age of four. By the time I was 7, my mom said I had 'enough' ponies, I probably had 10, and they were disappearing off of store shelves. Little could she have predicted I would pick up collecting as a hobby as a teen and expand my collection to 50+, including european exclusives and multiple generations.
